Have you always wanted to have a portrait drawn of yourself? Would you like to give a loved one a very special gift?
- Then you've come to the right place!
Painting people, in all their shapes, colors and facets, is my great passion .
Every person is unique and I try to reflect that in my drawings.
Important information
You have decided to have a portrait drawn by me?
Wonderful!
All I need now is precise information about what you envision for your desired image. Who exactly would you like to have drawn, how many people should be in the picture, etc.
Of course, I also need a high-quality photo to be able to draw the picture.
In the following steps you will learn how to get your portrait drawing.

this is how you get your drawing
Use the contact form to send me a message with all the important information about your order: your desired image, reference photo, technique/material and size!
1. How should your ideal drawing look like?
- Would you like me to draw a portrait, e.g., of your sister, a good friend, a wedding portrait of a couple, or something similar? - Would you like a collage of several people in one picture, i.e., several photos combined into one portrait drawing, etc.? - Would you like me to draw something completely different, e.g., a still life, a landscape, a dream, a vision, etc.?
2. Reference Photo
To ensure your commissioned drawing meets the highest standards, I need a high-resolution photo as a reference in which the person(s) are clearly recognizable. Their faces should not be obscured or in shadow!
3. Techniques/Materials
Please let me know which painting technique and materials you would like to use for your picture. You can find all the information about the different techniques and materials below! Please note: I only use high-quality, gallery-quality materials.
4. Size
Please let me know the size you'd like for your image.
You can find all the costs for the different sizes in the price list below!
5. Terms and Conditions
By placing an order with me, you also agree to my general terms and conditions for commissioned work. This includes, among other things, a 50% deposit of the total price. I will send you the terms and conditions via email.
6. Payment
Once we've completed all the steps above, you'll receive a deposit payment. You'll receive an email from me with the invoice and my bank details for the transfer. The deposit is 50% of the total price. You can find the price list below! After I receive the deposit, you'll receive a permanent spot on my waiting list. If there's no one ahead of you on the list, I'll of course start drawing your commission immediately! Once the painting is finished, you'll receive another email from me with a photo of the finished drawing. If you like the painting and are happy with the result, I'll send you another invoice with the remaining amount of the total price plus the additional shipping costs.
Your commissioned painting is now yours.

Highest-quality colored pencils
For this type of portrait drawing, I use Faber-Castell Polychromos and Caran d'Ache Luminance colored pencils. These pencils are among the highest quality colored pencils in the world and offer high color intensity and lightfastness. This means the colors in the portrait are long-lasting. My portraits are drawn on high-quality 270 g/m² Bristol paper.
An artist can only paint what they see! It's therefore all the more important that you provide me with a high-resolution photo for reference. It's important to note: The photo must not be pixelated, overexposed, blurry, shaky, or similarly impaired. The person photographed must be clearly visible. They must not be in shadow or obscured!
You are welcome to send me several photos and we can choose the best ones together.
At the bottom of this page, you'll find the contact form where you can upload one or two photos as attachments. Alternatively, you can email them to me at: dannyselvaart@gmail.com
